C# / .NET DEVELOPER

You will work on systems where correctness, precision and performance directly affect financial outcomes in the energy market.

At Energy Essentials, you are building the software layer that manages energy portfolios: forecasting demand, calculating risk, and executing decisions in a volatile market where timing and accuracy matter.

On a typical day, you:

• Design and implement backend services in C# / ASP.NET Core that handle high‑volume, real‑time data flows
• Work within autonomous squads, participating in design sessions, breaking down complex problems and translating them into working systems
• Build and maintain event-driven microservices using Kafka and asynchronous communication
• Apply Domain Driven Design (DDD) and event sourcing not as theory, but as tools to solve real business problems
• Work on systems that process large datasets and require high throughput and consistency guarantees
• Continuously balance trade-offs between correctness, performance, and maintainability

You will be expected to think beyond implementation:

• Why this data structure?
• Why this consistency model?
• What happens under load, failure, or concurrency spikes?

This is not a “feature factory” role. You are expected to understand the problem deeply and choose the right solution, not just apply patterns blindly.

• Work on business-critical systems where failures have real financial impact
• A team of experienced engineers with a strong focus on engineering fundamentals and craftsmanship
• Complex challenges such as:
  • High-performance data processing
  • Distributed systems consistency
  • Real-time decision-making under uncertainty
• A culture where code quality, reasoning and ownership matter more than speed
• Direct involvement in architectural and technical decisions
• Hybrid setup (3 days onsite in Maastricht)

You will be challenged daily — and that’s intentional.

You are an engineer who understands why things work, not just how.

• Strong experience with C# / .NET Core / ASP.NET Core
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals (e.g. memory model, concurrency, data structures)
• Proven experience designing and building backend systems independently
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Design patterns and when not to use them
  • Clean, testable code and system maintainability
  • Git fundamentals (merge vs rebase)
• Experience with:
  • SQL and performance tuning (indexes, query plans)
  • Event-driven systems (Kafka or equivalent)
  • Distributed architectures

Nice to have:

• Experience with DDD / event sourcing in production
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with high-volume or financial systems
